Cal Burns

California Burns is a free e-book published by the California Fire Prevention Organization, a non-profit public benefit charity focused on natural disaster and emergency preparedness in Southern California. The goal of this project was to redesign the existing website, which was dark, outdated, and difficult to read. The client requested that the new microsite be concise, highly visual, and clearly communicate that the book is a free resource.

After reviewing the existing content, I decided to retain the original content structure and color palette while creating a new typography system. I redesigned and rebuilt the website in WordPress using Elementor (the site was previously built with Divi). I also improved accessibility by converting content that had previously been presented as slide images into text and image elements that could be read by screen readers.
